We're an independently owned Comfort Keepers® franchise in San Diego. We started Sunward because we believed a locally-owned agency could do things a national call center never could.
Why we started this
Rob and Sheri Harvey founded Sunward because they knew what good caregiving looked like — and they saw how rarely it was delivered at scale. Large agencies move fast, rotate caregivers, and manage by spreadsheet. We decided to try it differently.
We hire slowly. We know our caregivers by name — their schedules, their strengths, what kind of clients they click with. When something goes wrong, you're calling someone who picks up the phone and already knows the situation. That's not a feature we built. It's just what happens when you stay small on purpose.
We're part of the Comfort Keepers® network — which gives us the training infrastructure, clinical protocols, and brand recognition of a national organization. But we're independently owned and operated, which means every decision about who we hire and how we care for clients is ours to make.
What being locally owned actually means
Real accountability
If something isn't right, you're talking to the owner — not a regional manager or an 800 number. We live and work in San Diego. Our reputation is local.
Consistency in caregivers
We don't rotate caregivers in and out of assignments because it's convenient for us. Consistency matters to clients. We schedule around it.
Caregivers who stay
High caregiver turnover is the industry norm. We treat our caregivers well because it's right — and because a caregiver who stays means a client who's safe.
San Diego knowledge
We know the neighborhoods, the local hospitals, the community organizations. That context matters when a client needs a referral or a family needs guidance.
Decisions we make here
Who we hire, how we train, what we pay — those decisions are made by us, not handed down from a corporate policy team. We own the outcomes.

Rob Harvey
Owner & Operator
Rob leads operations, caregiver hiring, and client relationships. He started Sunward because he wanted to build the kind of agency he'd trust with his own family.
Sheri Harvey
Content & Community
Sheri oversees caregiver resources, family education content, and community outreach. She makes sure the resources we publish are genuinely useful — not just filler.
