Accessibility statement

Sunward Caregiving is committed to making this website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. This statement explains our current conformance status, known limitations, and how to report accessibility barriers.

Conformance status

We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA (opens in new tab), with effort toward WCAG 2.2 AA. WCAG defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.

This site is designed and coded for accessibility from the ground up — no overlay tools are used. We test with automated tools, manual keyboard testing, and screen reader evaluation before release.

Technical specifications

This website relies on the following technologies for its presentation and accessibility:

  • HTML5 with semantic landmarks (header, main, nav, footer, section)
  • CSS3 — mobile-first, with prefers-reduced-motion support
  • WAI-ARIA roles, states, and properties where native HTML semantics are insufficient
  • Next.js 15 (React) — server-rendered for fast initial load and progressive enhancement

Measures we've taken

  • Skip-to-content link at the top of every page for keyboard users
  • One logical <h1> per page with no skipped heading levels
  • All images include meaningful alt text, or alt="" for decorative images
  • Color contrast meets or exceeds 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text
  • No information is conveyed by color alone — icons and labels accompany color indicators
  • All interactive elements are reachable via keyboard (Tab, Enter, Space, Escape)
  • Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements — no suppressed outlines
  • Touch targets are at least 44×44px (WCAG 2.5.5 / ADA requirement)
  • All form inputs have associated <label> elements; hints and errors linked via aria-describedby
  • External links disclose "opens in new tab" to screen reader users
  • Mobile navigation uses aria-expanded and aria-controls
  • Animations respect prefers-reduced-motion
  • Apply button includes aria-label="Apply for [job title]"

Assessment approach

Sunward Caregiving assesses accessibility using the following methods:

  • Automated: axe DevTools and Google Lighthouse run against all pages
  • Manual keyboard: every interactive element is verified keyboard-reachable before release
  • Screen reader: VoiceOver (macOS/iOS) and NVDA (Windows) testing on primary user flows
  • Mobile: tested on real devices at multiple viewport sizes

Known limitations

We are not aware of any persistent accessibility barriers at launch. When barriers are identified through testing or user feedback, we address them as a high priority.

Third-party content accessed through external links (such as our AI ATS partner's application form) is beyond our direct control. We have chosen partners with strong accessibility commitments, but we cannot guarantee conformance for content we do not own.

Feedback and contact

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of this site. If you experience a barrier or difficulty, please tell us — we aim to respond within two business days.

When reporting an issue, please include:

  • The page URL where you encountered the barrier
  • What you were trying to do
  • The assistive technology you were using (if any)

Enforcement and formal complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the following bodies:

  • California Department of Rehabilitation — enforces the Unruh Civil Rights Act and California Government Code §11135 for state programs
  • U.S. Department of Justice — administers ADA Title III (places of public accommodation)

Our goal is to resolve accessibility issues before any formal process is needed. Please reach out to us first.
